“Wisdom of the crowd” article #10 – mitochondria,  vitamins and minerals

We talked a lot about the Mitochondria and how important it is to get more knowledge about our one and only energy producer. Besides the article below from Brain-effect.com it is also important that all your vitamins / minerals and other functions in your body are available and in working order. Enjoy reading…Best Steffen

How to increase your mitochondria – naturally!

Ideally, you should use all-natural means to optimize the performance of your mitochondria and build new ones. If you want to increase your mitochondria, you can take two important points to heart:

You need to get out of your comfort zone. Our body is evolutionarily designed to cope with the most extreme situations. For this you need a lot of energy. The more you put your body under short-term stress, the more efficient your mitochondria become.

You can build new mitochondria: With a few hacks, you can make your body shut down old inefficient power plants and build new mitochondria.

You can now use the following 5 hacks to improve and increase your existing mitochondria. It’s best to pick one or two tips and implement these hacks directly for yourself.

1. HIIT Exercise (High Intensity Interval Training)

One of the best ways to boost energy and increase your mitochondria count is through what is known as HIIT training, which is characterized by short and very intense bursts of exercise.

A study by McMaster University in Canada has now confirmed the positive influence of HIIT training on the number of mitochondria. Like everything else in your body, are reduced when they are not being used.

In other words, if you don’t exercise much, the number of mitochondria decreases; if you exercise a lot, it increases. Therefore, people who exercise regularly have more energy available, among other things.

HIIT training means the highest demand on the body for energy production and mitochondria, which in turn causes the body to build more mitochondria. By the way, Cross-Fit is a super HIT sport.

2. Strength training

A study from the University of South Carolina shows that strength training can increase mitochondrial biogenesis in the brain region. So hit the gym and put on big weights with few repetitions.

3. Good sleep

Also very important is to maintain and protect the overall health of your cells. How to do this? Essentially, you should make sure to take good care of your body.

This means getting enough sleep (because your cells regenerate at night), drinking plenty of water (your cells are 70% water), avoiding free radicals, and eating plenty of antioxidants.

Free radicals can attack and destroy your cells and oxidative stress is the result. Above all, you should give sleep the attention it deserves. During sleep your mitochondria also regenerate.

Studies show that we have significantly less energy and performance when we have slept less than 6 hours. It doesn’t matter if you’re an athlete or an office athlete. Without good sleep, your cellular power plants can’t burn properly. You can find more about sleep optimization here.
