Step 2: Personalized Energy Report

We have patented a “fuel gauge” design that collates the participant’s questionnaire responses into a single indicator for what we call a person’s “state of energy.” This is a collective measure that aims to illustrate one’s ability to lead a balanced work and personal life day after day while withstanding the multiplicity of stressors that impact modern humans.

The value of this graphic is to help individuals recognize whether they are healthy and in the normal range of functionality, or if they have entered one of progressively more dangerous zones of burnout. It is vital to recognize burnout as early as possible and take steps to treat it before it becomes irreversible. Burnout especially has an impact on the adrenal gland, which produces cortisol, a necessary hormone to manage stress. The adrenal gland is involved in the human evolutionary response known as “fight or flight.”

Essentially, as people experience burnout, they become increasingly incapable of managing stress. Their inabilities expand to reflect multi-dimensional symptoms that affects both mind and body. Those people who test out in the most severe zone of burnout are usually unable to perform their work duties or even to live a normal daily life. They need more detailed medical testing of blood, urine, and saliva and a medical treatment plan.

Individuals and organizations can greatly benefit from assessing burnout as early as possible and devising a clear program of stress reduction, dietary adjustments, exercise routines, and support mechanisms.

How the Charts Work

The Personal Resource Indicator Questionnaire summary is designed to give recipients an overview of their well-being. The black bar on the Resource Indicator in the top box shows the individual’s situation at the time he or she filled in the questionnaire. It is based on the tally of symptoms of burnout as determined by the participant’s answers to the questions.

The four charts in the bottom box show where the participant stands on the four sets of stressors that the questionnaire asks them to notate.

The colors in the graphic indicate the following:

  • Green: You are doing well, currently there is no need for immediate action.
  • Yellow: Attention is needed, certain actions should be taken.
  • Red: Immediate action is needed to strengthen your health and well-being.
Note: This fuel gauge is not a medical diagnosis and should not be used in place of medical checkups with a professional medical provider. It is to be used strictly as a holistic indicator of the individual’s estimated capacity to withstand stressors and function productively at work and in their personal life.
